Firstly I chose a simple, bold, font, like the font of 'Kerrang!' and 'NME'. I chose black as the colour of my font, to go well with the red and white on the rest of the page and also to look professional.
I then decided that I wanted to make the masthhead edgy to fit the rock genre. So I used the bevel, emboss and satin tools to do so. This created a subtle crackly effect and made the characters un-level.
Inspired by the masthead of Kerrang!, I then decided to create thin white lines through the masthead. I did this using the shape tool, and then used the eraser tool to get rid of any visible lines which were not running through the masthead.

Weekly Update 5
This week I established all of the equipment I will be using to do my coursework.
The costume and make up list helped me in order to relate my choices to the rock genre to make sure I was following conventions.
The shot lists helped me to decide which images I would use in my magazine.

Weekly Update 4
This week I created a mood board is good because I can refer back to it for inspiration whilst I am doing my photoshoot or designing my magazine.
I designed my questionnaire and gave it to 6 males and 6 females of my target audience. I collected results which told me that:
My magazine should be priced between £2 – £2.99.
It should incorporate the colours black, red and white.
The images are the most important feature.
The image and layout seems to appeal to the target audience the most for the fornt cover
The layout is the most important feature of the contents.
The bright colour scheme attratcs people to the features article the most.
5 people said that my rock magazine should be named UPROAR.
I come up with flat plans which I can refer back to when making my magazine. The layout may change, this is just a guide.
I established my cast list and my photoshoot venue.

Shooting Location
Cotton Park - Romford
Chosen because it is close to where I live and there are many features which will look correct in a rock magazine. I.e. grey, concrete fence with barbed wire and skater park.
